With logistical contribution of CRRC-Armenia, "Armenian Socio-Demographic Initiative" NGO, jointly with Yerevan State Institute of Economics, and with the financial and organizational support of Committee of Science of RA, Central Bank of Armenia, UNFPA representative in Armenia, organized an international conference "The Social and Demographic Costs of Transition" on October 1-4, 2008 in Aghveran, Armenia. The conference addressed following major issues:

-    Informational and methodological problems of assessments of the
     social-economic  and demographic  consequences of transition to market economy

-    Social and demographic consequences of transition to market economy,

-    State and its tools of mitigation and liquidation of the negative social-demographics consequences of
     the transition to market economy.
