Civic Participation in the South Caucasus
Project Description
The quantitative representative nationwide sociological survey “Civil Society and Civic Participation in the South Caucasus” aims at understanding the levels and forms of civic participation in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The project is carried out within the ISSICEU (Intra- and Inter-Societal Sources of Instability in the Caucasus and EU Opportunities to Respond), an EU funded project, aiming at exploring various security-related issues in the Caucasus region and adjacent countries.
The ISSICEU consortium is led by the Center for Governance and Culture in Europe at the University of St. Gallen and comprises a total of eight research institutions based in Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
Methodology
The survey will be carried out by the means of personal interviews; the questionnaire will be preliminary tested at least at three randomly selected localities, including the capital. Selection of survey respondents will be based on a multistage cluster sampling with a sample size of 1,067 randomly selected households.
