Labor Migration and STI/HIV Risks in Armenia

Project objective

The study will assess the scope, scale and, to a certain extent, the quality of the current interventions aiming at providing HIV prevention among labor migrants, examine the HIV/STI risks in urban and rural Armenia stemming from labor migration, assess the needs for prevention interventions, and produce recommendations for comprehensive, evidence-based, culturally-grounded, and cost-effective interventions to reduce these risks.

Research design

Full data collection survey, sample size – 2500 migrant and non-migrant households from urban and rural communities with a goal to obtain a 2-to-1 ratio of migrant households to non-migrant households; in-depth and expert interviews, desk study.
